Products to use up in 2013

Have a quick look on Youtube, and you can see a huge shift in attitudes.

There are less and less haul videos, and more (New Year inspired?) resolutions to use more of what you already have.

Project 10 pan, Make out 2013, I’m a beauty hoarder, and why not, the Nail Polish Lottery club are all here to save us.

2011 and 2012 were big shopping years for me. I have a feeling this is going to change in 2013. My collection is just the right size now, so it is time I should start enjoying it.

Inspired by the Youtube “Products to use up in 2013” videos, I made my list as well. You can watch it here:

On my list for 2013 you’ll mostly find products I really, really love. Almost all of these are star products for me:

  • Lancome Teint Idole foundation
  • No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream
  • Revlon – Pink in the afternoon lipstick
  • L’Oreal Caresse – Cheeky Magenta
  • Laura Mercier lip glace – Pink tule
  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip balm – 01 honey
  • Eyeshadow I’d like to see pan on one of these eyeshadows: MAC satin taupe, L’Oreal Infailible eyeshadows
  • MAC paint pot in soft ochre
  • NARS Orgasm blush
  • Various perfume samples and full size Thierry Mugler Alien

I already posted a video for this on Youtube, sorry that I’m so late on the blog!
It’s just that I wanted to take some decent photos for you!

This month I started using more eyeshadow, however no eyeshadows made the list.
Here are the products:

What did you like the most in April?

L’Oreal Caresse and Color Infailible

Last week I did a bit of spring make up shopping. What to do on a beautiful sunny day at lunch time? Sit in the office or check out the 3 for 2 offer?
Tough decision! (No, not really).

It’s been a while since I bought any L’Oreal products. I don’t really know why, because they do have some good ones. I guess, overall I prefer to pay slightly more and buy MAC or something similar.

This time the new L’Oreal Caresse lipsticks really caught my eye. I guess they are meant as an alternative to the lip butters. From what I could swatch in store I prefered the Caresse ones. They are not as pigmented as the lip butters, but they are buildable and slide on so much better!
See my swatches (I built the color on a bit):

Caresse number 103 Sweet Berry:
This is the perfect natural lipstick color for me. As you will see in the photos, it is a bit dark in the tube, but it matches my natural lip color very closely. I would not be able to wear their “Nude” color and look good. It would be too light for me.

Caresse number 07 Cheeky Magenta:
What is more perfect in spring than a beautiful pink color? It looks electric pink in the tube, but on the lips it’s a much-needed pop of color!

I’ve been wearing them every day for the past two weeks.

Why I love them so much?

  • Beautiful colors that can be applied lightly for a hint of color, or that can be built up for a more daring (still natural finish) look.
  • Lightweight formula and nice finish (shiny but not glossy)
  • The packaging is excellent. On the bottom the actual color and name description, on the top you have different colors depending on the lipstick. The packaging is clear so that you can see what’s inside. Moreover it shuts down really tight, which will make sure that the lipstick will last you a long time. The design looks great, and I love how the logo is on the side.

As I have way too many lipsticks, lip balms, lip glosses etc. in my collection, I thought that the third item should be something else.

The sales girl recommended the Color Infailible shadows and I bought Permanent Kaki.
(Yes I’m the last person in the Universe to buy this!)

This shadow is described as “velvety powder” on the packaging. The website describes it as “hybrid powder” texture. It is excellent quality, I’m in love with it and have worn it most of the past week!
It’s very easy to apply with a flat eye shadow brush. Even without primer it stays on all day and doesn’t fade or crease. If you feel the need, you can tone it down a bit by blending it with a fluffy brush.
I would say it rivals the sold our Maybelline Color Tattoos, and from what I could swatch, I think I prefer this one!

Enough talking, let the pictures speak:

Do you own any of these products? What do you think? What other L’Oreal do you recommend?
