Top 5 Most Used – January 2013

Hi everyone!

January is almost over, I don’t know if I should be happy or sad. One thing is for sure: time does fly!

Make up helped a lot to brighten my beginning of the year anxiety. I did not buy anything but did a few swaps. Getting a fun package in the mail is always going to make my day.

As far as make up application I kept it to basic, as usual. Mornings are never good for me!

My top 5 most used products for January are:

  • Real Techniques stippling brush: so far I can say I was expecting something better, but I still have to play with this new toy.
  • Clinique Redness Solutions loose powder: my current foundation is more on the dewy side, so I need lots of powder. Why do I use a dewy foundation when I don’t have dry skin? Can’t say right now, but I promise to reveal later.
  • Milani baked blush in Luminoso: this blush is pure genius! I can’t believe I did not use Milani before. Milani please start trading in the UK too!
  • Bourjois Effect 3D lipgloss: if you have access to Bourjois go and check out their lipglosses. They are the best high street / drugstore lipgloss on the market.
  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip balm in 01 Honey: this product has so many reviews it doesn’t need a description from me. I just need to say one thing – Revlon please rename it! The long name is too much for me!

How was your January? Did you get the January dreaded blues?

Top 5 Most Used – July 2012

Hi everyone!

I know I have been away from the blog for a long time.
At the moment I will not be able to post proper posts or reviews on the blog, but I will be adding my Youtube videos.
Let’s start with my most used items in July. They are all great products, hope you enjoy!

Top 5 Most Used – May 2012

This month I rotated my products a lot. I used so many foundations, eye shadows, primers and even mascaras that I thought it will be really difficult to pick the top 5 most used.
However, one look at my make up collection, and these 5 just jumped into my hand.

Here are this month’s picks:

  • Wet n Wild brow and eye liner pencil in 648 taupe : Ever since I got in the mail from Judi, I have used it every day!
  • Benefit Erase paste in 02 medium: reviews on this product are divided, but it really does work for my under eye area.
  • NARS Orgasm blush: this item doesn’t need any more words from me, I just use it almost every day.
  • Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons bronzer in 01 Blondes: this bronzer works great with my skin tone. Also, because it has the 4 shades I can custom mix it every day.
  • Guerlain Meteorites Cruel Gardenia: to go with my bronzer, I started using the illuminator too. It is a beautiful product, which I always look forward to put on. This is a limited edition item, so I do not have a link.

I already posted a video for this on Youtube, sorry that I’m so late on the blog!
It’s just that I wanted to take some decent photos for you!

This month I started using more eyeshadow, however no eyeshadows made the list.

Top 5 most used – March 2012

March was a difficult busy month. Make up wise I didn’t buy much, also I didn’t have time to put on too much make up.
I hardly used any shadows, and mostly focused on my face.

Here are my most used products in March:

Top 5 March

Top 5 March

  • Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H in shade 02 Lys Rose: since I bought this foundation it has become a favorite. It is very easy to apply, lightweight formula, medium coverage with a beautiful skin finish, and most importantly it lasts all day. With other foundations, half way through the day, my skin redness starts to show through. It does not happen with this foundation. But if you need more than medium coverage, this might not be a choice for you. I do apply a thin layer and top up where needed, but I don’t see it building it up to full coverage.
  • Clinique Airbrush Concealer in 01 Fair: this is just the perfect under eye concealer for me. It brightens the eyes and hides my tiny but still there fine lines.
  • Mac Fix+ : I said it last month, and I’ll say it again – I really, really don’t know why I started using this product so late. It makes my skin look beautiful.
  • NARS Orgasm: I didn’t use any other blush this month.
  • Lancome L’Absolu Nu in shade 102 Rouge nu: to bring some color back into my life, I used it almost every day in March.

What were your favorites in March?

Top 5 most used – February 2012

Happy Spring everyone!
With February gone, we can look forward to the nice improving weather and increasing daylight!

February was a busy month for me, so many days I didn’t apply too much make up. Every day I made sure that I have a good base, and if I had time, I applied some “extras” too.

Here are the products I used the most:

Top 5 February

Top 5 February

It’s a lot of pink, and I assure you, it’s not intended.

  • Nivea pearly shine lip balm: I used it every night before going to bed and in the morning before leaving the house. (Who has time to put on lipstick in the morning?) It is tinted and pearly but not very moisturizing.
  • Nars Orgasm blush: I used this blush almost every day in February. When I bought it, I was expecting maybe a little more with all the hype around it. In time, I just started to like it more and more. It is pigmented enough for me, and an easy option for work.
  • Guerlain Meteorites Cruel Gardenia: this is definitely my purchase of the month too! Since I bought it, I wore it almost every day. It’s just beautiful!
  • MAC expensive pink shadow: this shadow looks beautiful on the eye. It just brings out my eye colour, and it is very easy to use and apply.
  • MAC Fix+: When I bought it, it was very difficult for me to remember to use after applying my make up. Now it is part of my daily routine. I was a bit skeptical if it really helps, but it does. I still don’t understand how it can work, but when I use it my make up lasts longer.

What were the products you used most in February?

Top 5 most used – January 2012

As there is a trend to write/vlog about monthly favorites I thought I’d publish every month what the most used 5 items of make up were for me.
Hopefully it will be fun to look back at these posts a year from now.

This month is a lot of Laura Mercier products because I bought the “day to night” set on 50% off offer. (Great deal, but I didn’t love all the products in the set).

Here they are:

In the order I apply them:

  • Laura Mercier Foundation Primer.
This came with the “day to night” set. It’s a good primer, no complaints except that it doesn’t have SPF. It goes on well with the Silk Creme foundation.
  • Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (in cream ivory).
Only good things are said about this foundation so I had to try it. I’m using it daily because I bought it, but not necessarily because it’s the best. It has good coverage and a nice silk finish (as in the name) but it fills in my pores and dry skin areas. I’m applying it with a brush because I don’t like sponges. With a sponge it was slightly better but I have to build on more product. Again, it doesn’t have SPF and this month I’ve been going out without applying any additional SPF. This is fine for January in London but it won’t work later in the year.
  • Vichy Dermablend Ultra – Corrective Foundation Cream Stick (in porcelain 11).
Another foundation? No, I’m using this as under eye concealed. It’s supposed to be heavy-duty coverage, and it’s ok for me.
I actually bought this product when I had severe acne and oily skin. As foundation, the color is a bit light for me. Coverage wise it lives up to the name. But beware, it’s heavy so it might be like a mask! (I know, if you have sever acne like I did, you might prefer the “mask”). I used to apply a light foundation first, after which I applied this on top, only on the problem areas.
  • Sleek Face Contour Kit (in light).
I used this almost every day, especially for the highlighter. My skin has been very dull in January.
  • Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Mascara (in black).
This is definitely not a favorite mascara, but I have been using every day. Why? Because I paid for it, of course!
I throw out my mascara every three months so I only have 2 months to go. It does give volume and lengthen the lashes but it has some fall out and smudging. The worst part, is actually managing to apply it. The wand comes out of the tube with a lot of excess product.

Although these products are the ones I used almost every day in January, they are not favorites. Some of them are to be replaced soon. But I don’t intend to waste my money, so I will use them up first!

What are your January most used products?
